SDN-Based Network Slicing Mechanism for a Scalable 4G/5G Core Network: A Kubernetes Approach

Managing the large volumes of IoT and M2M traffic requires evaluation scalability reliability for all components in end-to-end system. This includes connectivity, mobile network functions, application or services receiving processing data from end devices. Firstly, this paper discusses design a containerized mechanisms delivering automated high availability when deploying it in: (1) edge using balenaCloud; (2) Amazon Web Services cloud with EC2 instances; (3) dedicated service. The experiments showed that there are no significant differences between deployments regarding resource consumption. Secondly, solutions scaling 4G/5G functions backhaul provide connectivity devices IoT/M2M applications analyzed. In case, provided by Kubernetes. our proposed algorithm slicing managed SDN guarantees necessary radio resources availability.
